John Allmark

John was the son of Alfred & Mary Jane Allmark.
He drowned as a result of an attack by enemy submarine ‘U49’, on the S.S. Sagamore,150 miles from the Fastnet Rock (Co. Cork, Ireland) in position -51.5ºN 14.0ºW, on voyage from Boston (USA) to Liverpool with a general cargo including munitions for British and was armed with one 4.7" gun.
 

52 crew and passengers were lost.
The ship left Boston on 21st February

S.S. Sagamore was built 1892 and weighed in at 5,197 gross tons
